Seyi Makinde picks ex-DSS chief Lawal Daura as 2027 running mate

At the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) national convention in Bauchi, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde officially unveiled former Department of State Services (DSS) Director-General Lawal Musa Daura as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election. Makinde stated that Daura’s extensive security background was a deliberate choice to address Nigeria’s ongoing security challenges.

During the convention, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed was inaugurated as the APM national leader. Mohammed endorsed the Makinde-Daura ticket, describing the pairing as a strategic move to tackle national security and development. The party also re-elected Yusuf Mamman Dantalle as National Chairman.

Makinde emphasized that the 2027 election should move beyond political slogans and focus on measurable outcomes, such as purchasing power, job availability, and the ability of citizens to travel and farm without fear. He called for a new era of politics built on trust and urged opposition parties to collaborate to provide a credible alternative to the current administration.
