Salerno Airport to host diverted Naples flights in November

Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport is set to experience a significant increase in activity this November due to the temporary closure of Naples International Airport for runway redevelopment.

Air Cairo will transfer flights to Salerno, operating twice weekly to Sharm El Sheikh on Fridays and Sundays using Airbus A320 aircraft. Additionally, Eurowings will launch connections to Stuttgart on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

While the FILT CGIL union notes that workers are prepared for the increased workload, union representatives Carmen Morra and Gianluca Petrone have raised concerns regarding local infrastructure. They emphasized that increased passenger flows necessitate urgent improvements to road access, public transport, and traffic management to prevent congestion. The union is calling for coordinated action between regional and local authorities to ensure adequate staffing, safety, and accessibility during this growth phase.
