Italy experiences heatwave and rising pollution levels

A subtropical anticyclone is bringing stable, sunny, and hot weather across much of Italy. Temperatures are expected to reach between 31°C and 36°C in various regions, including Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna, and Sicily. While most areas will experience clear skies, some cloudiness and isolated thunderstorms may occur in the Alpine and Apennine mountain ranges.

The intense heat has contributed to significant environmental concerns. Data indicates that ozone levels have exceeded tolerable limits in several cities, such as Bergamo, Vicenza, and Turin. Additionally, high levels of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) have been recorded in port cities like Genoa and Palermo, and fine particulate matter (PM2.5) has surpassed WHO guidelines in cities including Turin, Verona, and Milan.
