Salerno approves cemetery management shift and public housing project

The Salerno municipal government, led by Mayor Vincenzo De Luca, has approved two major urban and service management initiatives.

First, the management of local cemeteries will transition to the multi-utility company Sistemi Salerno-Servizi Utility. This move aims to centralize previously fragmented services and includes a five-year investment plan of 1.5 million euros for extraordinary maintenance and the creation of new burial sites. The new management model will introduce a digital portal for online service requests, a dedicated 'Single Cemetery Desk' to reduce bureaucracy, and an integrated payment system via PagoPA.

Second, the administration has greenlit a technical-economic feasibility project for public housing in via Picarielli. Supported by 5 million euros in funding from the Campania Region, the project focuses on the redevelopment of existing municipal buildings to increase the supply of Public Residential Housing (ERP). The initiative is part of a regional program to regenerate abandoned or underutilized public assets and increase the number of available housing units.
