Salerno couple welcomes baby after ten-year struggle

A couple in the province of Salerno, Italy, has welcomed a baby girl after a ten-year struggle to conceive. The mother is 59 years old, and the father is 70.

Professor Mario Polichetti, a gynecologist and expert in assisted reproduction who monitored the couple, described the case as exceptional. He noted that the mother recovered from childbirth more quickly than many younger mothers. The couple's journey involved a decade of efforts and several painful interrupted pregnancies before the successful birth in a Salerno hospital.
