Salerno court to trial woman for husband's murder

A trial is scheduled to begin on October 8 at the Court of Assizes in Salerno for Raffaella Cirillo, 54, who is accused of the aggravated voluntary homicide of her husband, Francesco Vitolo, 62.

The incident occurred on February 28 in Sant’Egidio del Monte Albino. Prosecutors allege that Cirillo stabbed Vitolo, an entrepreneur, in the heart with a kitchen knife. Investigators suggest the motive was driven by jealousy regarding a suspected extramarital affair and concerns over the potential dispersal of family assets to a third party.

Medical examinations confirmed the cause of death as acute hemorrhage and cardiac arrest following a penetrating wound to the chest. The defendant is accused of attempting to clean the weapon to remove blood traces following the attack.
