Salerno industrial zone explosion under investigation

An explosion occurred in the industrial zone of Salerno, Italy. The company SMET has clarified that the blast took place on the opposite side of the road from its entrance and was not at its property, requesting that reports avoid implying the company was targeted or directly involved.

Authorities are still investigating the nature of the object that exploded, noting that the term ‘paper bomb’ has not been definitively confirmed. One driver who was nearby was hospitalized for observation following the blast but has since been discharged.
