Italian local authorities address illegal parking and urban decay

In Italy, local authorities are addressing issues of urban order and illegal activities. In Salerno, Mayor Vincenzo De Luca is calling for legislative changes to allow for immediate house arrest or restrictive measures upon the first report of illegal parking attendants. These individuals are reportedly extorting money from motorists in various locations, including the city center, the seafront, and near the stadium, sometimes targeting those who have already paid for official parking. Those who refuse to pay face threats, insults, or damage to their vehicles.

In Calci, municipal councilor Serena Sbrana has raised concerns regarding the poor condition of parking areas in via Roma and piazzetta Goffredo de Angelis. Sbrana highlighted potholes and uneven pavement that pose safety risks and damage the town's appearance, particularly near the entrance to the Certosa and the Natural History Museum. She has requested concrete timelines for repairs and questioned why these specific areas were excluded from recent roadworks.
