Salerno municipal properties face 52% tenant insolvency rate

Data released by the Municipality of Salerno reveals that 52.78% of tenants and concessionaires managing municipal real estate assets are insolvent. This high rate of non-payment means that those failing to pay rent now outnumber those who pay regularly.

City Councilor Ersilia Trotta of Fratelli d'Italia brought the issue to light following a formal request for documentation. Trotta noted a worsening trend in arrears and criticized the administration for providing debt figures only in aggregate form. Because the data lacks individual names, it is currently impossible to link specific debts to specific tenants or concessionaires.

Further investigations are expected regarding the effectiveness of previous legal actions and whether they resulted in contract terminations. Additionally, concerns have been raised regarding the appropriateness of certain lease agreements where rents are listed as zero or at minimal amounts.
