Salerno prosecutors seek trial for Franco Alfieri in Paestum tender probe

The Salerno Prosecutor's Office has requested that former Capaccio Paestum mayor and former provincial president Franco Alfieri, along with six others, be sent to trial. The investigation concerns the bidding process for the construction of the Paestum railway station underpass, a public works project valued at approximately 7 million euros.

Prosecutor Alessandro Di Vico has charged the group with aggravated interference in public auctions. The project was funded by the Campania Region through Cohesion and Development Funds. The construction site was officially inaugurated on April 22, 2024.

In addition to Alfieri, the individuals facing trial requests include former chief of staff Andrea Campanile, former project manager Federica Turi, works director Gianvito Bello, tender commission members Barbara Immerso and Gerardina Di Filippo, and the owner of the winning company, Nicola Aulisio. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 16 at the Salerno Court.
