Salerno to Host European Universities Games 2026

From 18 July to 1 August 2026, the city of Salerno will stage the seventh edition of the European Universities Games. The event, organized by the University of Salerno, will feature more than 4,000 athletes, coaches and support staff competing in 13 sports. Around 181 universities from 31 nations (32 counting the Northern Cyprus delegation) are expected to take part. The largest delegation will be from the University of Zagreb, arriving with 232 members across 22 teams. The host university will field 213 participants in 21 teams, competing in every discipline on the programme.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for Piazza della Libertà, marking the official launch of what organizers describe as one of the most significant university‑level multi‑sport gatherings in Europe for 2026.
