Salesforce stock rises as AI demand drives enterprise software growth
Salesforce has seen a significant recovery in its stock price following a period of market skepticism regarding the impact of artificial intelligence on the software-as-a-service (SaaS) sector. Earlier this year, fears that AI might displace enterprise software led to a broad sell-off in software stocks. However, Salesforce reported strong second-quarter earnings, with revenue reaching the top end of guidance and remaining performance obligations growing by 14%.
Management attributed this growth to high demand for AI and data products, suggesting that rather than replacing traditional software, AI is driving customers to upgrade to higher-priced solutions. This trend is mirrored by other companies like Workday, which has seen significant growth in its autonomous AI product revenue.
In China, the upcoming 2026 ITValue Summit in Sanya will address similar themes of how enterprises can integrate AI by distilling general model capabilities into specialized, proprietary business processes. Discussions will focus on whether organizational structures and structured data assets can effectively serve as a moat in the age of AI agents.
