Salford celebrates centenary with community awards and musical performances

Salford is marking its centenary year through various civic honors and cultural events. The Salford City FC Foundation was one of five recipients of the Salford Centenary Medal, an honor created by the Salford City Council to recognize organizations making significant contributions to the city's communities. The award ceremony, held at Buile Hill Mansion, included civic leaders such as Mayor Paul Dennett and the Ceremonial Mayor of Salford, Councillor Robin Garrido.

In addition to civic awards, the city will host a live performance of ‘Songs of Salford’ at the Grand Palais in Swinton on November 14. The project, led by producer Charlie Deakin-Davies and the organization From The Other, features the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra alongside local artists including Salo, The Thirsty Poet, Che3kz, Meduulla, and Sam Seth. The performance showcases a new record created to commemorate Salford’s 100th birthday.
