Salford City Lionesses secure investment and advisor appointment

Salford City has announced significant developments for its women’s team, the Lionesses. Former England international Jill Scott MBE has been appointed as chief women’s football advisor to oversee technical programs and academy development.

Additionally, global insurer AIG has reached an agreement in principle to become the largest minority equity investor in the Salford City Lionesses. This proposed deal would mark the first time a Fortune 500 company has taken an ownership stake in a UK women’s football club. The investment is intended to support specialized programming for female athletes and enhance facilities at the AIG Stadium.
