Salford high‑speed police chase ends with arrest

Greater Manchester Police released footage of a 45‑minute pursuit on 28 July 2026 after a 36‑year‑old driver of a Nissan Qashqai fled officers in Salford, reaching speeds of up to 100 mph on roads limited to 30 mph. The chase involved a helicopter, ten police vehicles and the force’s Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit, which ultimately stopped the vehicle with a stinger.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and failing to stop. A woman suffered minor injuries when her car was hit, and an officer incurred a hand injury during the stinger deployment. Police Sergeant Neil Molloy said no one was seriously hurt and praised the swift, professional response that secured the arrest and seized the vehicle.
