Salgado Maranhão releases new poetry book ‘A arte de matar’

Award-winning poet Salgado Maranhão has released a new book of poems titled ‘A arte de matar’ (The Art of Killing), published by 7Letras. The work explores the persistent human impulse toward violence, drawing connections between biblical myths, historical empires, and modern conflicts.

Maranhão, a winner of the Jabuti Prize, draws on his childhood experiences in the Maranhão hinterlands to reflect on how human behavior regarding violence has evolved from ancient times to the present. The book launch took place on September 3 at the Prodigy Hotel in Rio de Janeiro.

The event was attended by several prominent figures from the literary community, including members of the Academia Brasileira de Letras and the Academia Carioca de Letras.
