Sali Berisha calls for civil disobedience in Albania

Democratic Party Chairman Sali Berisha has called for nationwide civil disobedience and mass mobilization to protest the current administration. During a media conference, Berisha urged citizens and supporters across all districts to mobilize, describing students and high school students involved in the protests as ‘true heroes’.

Berisha demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama, stating that his departure is necessary to pave the way for a dignified solution for the European Union member state.

The call comes amid five days of intensifying protests in Tirana and other cities. Recent demonstrations have seen violent clashes between masked protesters and police near the Prime Minister's office, involving the use of stones, fireworks, and Molotov cocktails. Police have responded with water cannons and tear gas, resulting in injuries to both protesters and law enforcement officers.
