Sali Berisha meets US Republican leaders in Texas
Sali Berisha, leader of the Democratic Party of Albania, is currently in the United States participating in the Republican Party convention in Texas. Accompanied by Fatmir Mediu, Berisha has held meetings with several high-profile American political figures, including Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, RNC Chairman Joe Gruters, Senator James Lankford, and Congressmen Kevin Hern and Pete Sessions. He also met with Ed Martin, a Department of Justice representative appointed by Donald Trump to address the use of justice as a political weapon.
During his visit, Berisha was honored with the ‘Key to the City’ of Mesquite, Texas, by Mayor Daniel Aleman, in recognition of his political contributions to Albania and his efforts to strengthen Albania-US relations.
In recent commentary, Berisha addressed his previous ‘non-grata’ status, claiming the decision was the result of corrupt lobbying by Edi Rama and George Soros. He stated that he pursued a legal path to challenge the decision, asserting that it lacked factual basis and that he remained confident in his eventual return to the United States.
