Salih Ahmed Hamid continues playing football in Gaza despite limb loss

Salih Ahmed Hamid, a 13-year-old boy living in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood of the Gaza Strip, continues to play football despite losing his right leg in an Israeli airstrike in 2021. Although the attack caused multiple injuries across his body, Salih has maintained his passion for the sport.

Currently, Salih relies on a limited, handmade prosthetic limb that restricts his movement and makes it difficult to play at the same level as his peers. He expresses a desire for a more advanced prosthetic leg that would allow him to move more freely and further develop his football skills. For Salih, playing football serves as a vital way to connect with his community and maintain a sense of normalcy amidst his physical challenges.
