Salih Ruso pledges waste system reform in Serdarlı-Ergenekon

Salih Ruso, the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) candidate for Mayor of Geçitkale-Serdarlı, has pledged to overhaul the waste management system following recurring fires at the landfill located between Serdarlı and Ergenekon.

After inspecting the site, Ruso noted that the area has experienced multiple fires this year, arguing that simply responding to fires is insufficient. He stated that the current method of storing accumulated waste in open areas is unsustainable and promised to implement a system that addresses the problem at its source.

As part of his campaign, Ruso introduced the ‘Clean Villages-Safe Fields’ project. This initiative aims to reorganize waste collection and sorting, combat illegal dumping, establish regular cleaning schedules for villages, and create a reporting system for citizens. Additionally, he committed to rehabilitating the existing wild landfill area and transitioning waste management to a controlled system that protects human health and the environment.
