Salih Tanrıkulu resigns from Borsa Istanbul roles amid DDK probe

Salih Tanrıkulu, the Chairman of Turkey's State Audit Board (DDK), has stepped down from his positions at Borsa Istanbul. This move follows an instruction from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for the DDK to investigate investment fund transactions within the capital markets.

Tanrıkulu, who assumed the leadership of the DDK on June 7, 2024, previously served as an independent board member and vice chairman at Borsa Istanbul, as well as the head of its audit committee. His name has since been removed from the exchange's official website.

The investigation comes amid recent regulatory actions, including a September 17 decision by the Capital Markets Board (SPK) to liquidate 131 investment funds from seven portfolio management companies. Opposition figures have raised concerns regarding potential conflicts of interest, noting Tanrıkulu's dual roles during the period under scrutiny.
