Salihli Sultani Grape Molasses receives geographical indication

Salihli Sultani Grape Molasses, produced from Sultani grapes in the Salihli district of Manisa, has officially received a geographical indication certification from the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office. This marks the fifth product from Salihli to receive such protection, joining Salihli Cherries, Odun Meatballs, Kula Leblebi, and Gökeyüp Pottery.

The certification follows a four-year review process initiated by the Salihli Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TSO) on August 30, 2022. During a promotional meeting held at the Salihli TSO, Chairman İbrahim Yüksel noted that the goal of securing these registrations is to increase the value of local products through legal protection. Yüksel also highlighted a surplus in grape production this year, emphasizing the need to find ways to utilize the product within the domestic market.
