Salim El Koudri attempts suicide in prison following Modena car attack

Salim El Koudri, a 31-year-old man accused of a mass casualty event in Modena, attempted suicide in prison by ingesting medication. He was transported to a hospital and is reported to be out of life-threatening danger.

El Koudri is accused of using a car to strike eight people in central Modena on May 16, an incident that resulted in the death of one woman. While he had previously received mental health support, psychiatric evaluations determined he was fully capable of understanding his actions at the time of the crime. He faces charges of massacre.
