Salima Tete Captains India Women's Hockey Squad for 2026 Asian Games

Hockey India announced a 20‑member Indian women’s hockey squad for the 20th Asian Games in Aichi‑Nagoya, Japan, scheduled for September 19–October 4, 2026. Captain Salima Tete will continue to lead the side after guiding the team to a Nations Cup victory in New Zealand.

Chief coach Sjoerd Marijne said the group “has a nice balance between juniors, experienced players and seniors” and added, “This group of players has shown that they have the right form and fitness in recent months. We are confident that this team is ready for the challenge at the Asian Games.”

Goalkeepers Savita (Padma Shri awardee) and Bichu Devi Kharibam were named, with defenders including Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam, Ishika Chaudhary, Jyoti, Lalthantluangi and Shilpi Dabas. The midfield features Nikki Pradhan, Sakshi Rana, Sunelita Toppo, Neha and Deepika Soreng, while the forward line comprises Lalremsiami, Rutuja Dadaso Pisal, Navneet Kaur, Deepika, Ishika, Baljeet Kaur and Beauty Dungdung.
