Salinas Valley cities host National Night Out community events

Communities across the Salinas Valley celebrated National Night Out on August 4, hosting various events to strengthen bonds between residents, local organizations, and first responders.

In Gonzales, Soledad, and Greenfield, police departments organized gatherings featuring food, games, and information booths. Gonzales hosted hundreds of attendees, while Soledad’s event at the Community Center included more than 40 contributing organizations and a donut eating contest. Greenfield’s celebration at Village Green Park drew approximately 300 people to learn about local resources.

In King City, the police department held its first National Night Out at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds. The event featured activities such as face painting, pie-eating contests, and a dunk tank. Proceeds from the dunk tank were donated to Hands That Help SoMoCo, a volunteer organization supporting residents facing hardship.
