Salinas Valley expands rural water efficiency program

The Salinas Valley Basin Groundwater Sustainability Agency (SVBGSA) has expanded its Water Efficiency Pilot Program for Rural Residents to include all six subbasins under its management. The program, which will run through the end of 2026, offers free home water efficiency assessments to both homeowners and renters in rural areas of the Salinas Valley.

Conducted by WaterWise Consulting Inc., the assessments involve on-site evaluations of indoor and outdoor water use, including checks for leaks, irrigation system reviews, and inspections of plumbing fixtures. Depending on the findings, participants may receive personalized recommendations and free installation of water-saving devices such as efficient aerators, showerheads, irrigation nozzles, and smart controllers.
