Argentina authorities respond to various regional safety and health incidents

Authorities in Argentina are addressing several distinct public safety and health concerns across different provinces.

In Corrientes, a high-speed river pursuit on the Paraná River involving gunfire ended with the arrest of two Paraguayan nationals. The operation, which included the Argentine Naval Prefecture and the Paraguayan Navy, successfully recovered four cattle that had been tied up in preparation for theft near Apipé Grande Island.

In Buenos Aires province, health officials are investigating suspected cases of trichinosis in Salliqueló linked to the consumption of meat from family slaughtering activities. Meanwhile, in Bolívar, two butchers are under investigation for animal cruelty after several dogs were found dead or poisoned near contaminated meat containers.

Food safety measures have also been implemented in other regions. In Santa Fe, the Assal agency banned two brands of sunflower oil, Don José and El Favorito, due to labeling irregularities and adulteration. In General Alvear, rural police seized meat unfit for consumption during inspections aimed at preventing cattle theft.

In Mendoza, legislator Martín Lousteau criticized the development of 'Wamani,' a massive estate in San Carlos being built by billionaire Martín Varsavsky as a potential nuclear apocalypse bunker.
