Salma Hayek Opens FIFA World Cup 2026 Ceremony in Mexico City

Actress Salma Hayek delivered a welcome speech at the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2026 held at Mexico City's Estadio Azteca. Representing the host nation, she said, “¡Que viva México y que viva el fútbol!” as the tournament, jointly hosted by Mexico, the United States and Canada, began.

The ceremony featured performances by Andrea Bocelli, South‑Korean singer Ejae, and a line‑up that included Shakira, J Balvin, Maná and other international artists. The event highlighted the participation of 48 qualified nations, with their flags displayed on the stadium screens, underscoring the historic first edition of the World Cup to be staged across three countries.
