Salmon Arm Chess Club defeats Vernon Chess Club in rapid tournament

The Salmon Arm Chess Club hosted the Vernon Chess Club for an unrated rapid tournament on August 12. The event featured 12 players competing in six rounds of all-play-all matches.

Salmon Arm secured the victory with a score of 22.5 to Vernon's 13.5. Notable individual performances included Salmon Arm’s Steven Healey, who won all six of his games, and Craig Bacon, who won five. Vernon’s Cole Toponce won four games.

Organizers are planning a rematch to be hosted by the Vernon Chess Club. The clubs aim to establish a series of events titled the ‘Okanagan Rapid Club Championship’ to involve more local clubs in the region.
