British Columbia authorities report RV explosion and arson arrests

An investigation by Technical Safety BC has determined that rodents caused a propane-related RV explosion in Abbotsford, which occurred on March 2. The rodents chewed through a gas hose, creating a slow leak that led to the explosion. The incident resulted in severe burns to 68-year-old Sylvia Gillis and her dog.

In separate incidents across British Columbia, authorities have made arrests related to fires. In Salmon Arm, an individual was arrested following an intentional fire at a commercial shopping centre on August 8. Meanwhile, in Nanaimo, a 39-year-old man faces arson and mischief charges after being apprehended by an off-duty RCMP officer near a restaurant where combustible materials had been piled against the building.
