Salmon Arm secures infrastructure funding and pursues rail safety grant

The City of Salmon Arm has secured a $58,000 federal grant through the Building Communities Strong Fund to develop a long-term financial asset management plan. This initiative aims to strengthen municipal financial planning and support sustainable infrastructure investments.

Separately, construction delays regarding a new pedestrian railway crossing at the north end of the Foreshore Trail may present a financial opportunity for the city. Due to an ongoing labour dispute at CPKC, the railway company cannot complete its portion of the project this year. This delay allows the city and CPKC to apply jointly for the Transport Canada Rail Safety Improvement Program grant. If successful, the grant could cover approximately 80 per cent of the estimated $420,000 project cost, totaling about $336,000.
