Salmon Council proposes growth agenda for Chilean aquaculture

The Salmon Council has presented an agenda to the Chilean Chamber of Deputies aimed at restoring efficiency and growth within the national salmon farming industry. This proposal follows a Constitutional Court ruling regarding the micro-relocation of aquaculture concessions.

The Council suggests that these measures could increase annual exports by up to US$520 million and create between 1,800 and 5,400 new jobs in the southern regions of the country. Current industry data indicates that harvests remain around 1.1 million tons, while the granting of new concessions has been suspended since 2020.
