Salmonella Outbreak Prompts Nationwide Recall of Moringa Supplements

Federal health agencies have expanded a Salmonella investigation linked to moringa‑based dietary supplements after identifying 22 additional illnesses in four states, bringing the total to 119 reported cases and 32 hospitalizations. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is working with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to trace the source, noting that recalled products may still be present in consumers’ homes.

The FDA recall, issued on May 26, covers Total Nutrition Inc.’s TNVitamins Ultra Potent Complete Green Superfood Moringa capsules and Doctor’s Pride Complete Green Superfood Ultra Potent Moringa capsules, sold through major retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, Target and TikTok Shop. Affected lot numbers include 2507199, 2512‑304 and 2793, with expirations ranging from September 2027 to February 2028. Consumers are advised to discard or return the products, wash any contaminated surfaces, and seek medical care if severe symptoms such as high fever, prolonged diarrhea, or dehydration occur. No deaths have been reported.
