Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Salmsach, Thurgau

A 62‑year‑old Swiss motorcyclist died at the scene after a head‑on collision with a car on the Fehlwiesstrasse near Salmsach on Monday evening at about 20:45. Police say a 21‑year‑old Swiss driver attempted an overtaking maneuver, leading to the frontal impact.

Both car drivers escaped injury. The crash caused damage estimated in the tens of thousands of Swiss francs, prompting a temporary road closure, traffic diversions and limited railway service. The cantonal police forensic unit was deployed, the drivers' licences were seized and the men were detained while a criminal investigation was opened. Authorities are asking witnesses to contact the Romanshorn police station.
