Salobreña merchants form association to protect municipal market

Merchants at the Salobreña municipal market have formed a new association to protect their interests and revitalize local sales. The group, consisting of approximately 12 businesses ranging from fresh produce to mobile repairs, aims to increase the market's visibility and compete more effectively against large retail chains.

Association president Younes Saifi stated that the goal is to “give visibility to the municipal market” and restore the traditional human connection between customers and merchants. The association is currently working with the CADE of Motril and the Salobreña City Council to promote the market to both locals and the high volume of seasonal tourists from Granada and Jaén. Their immediate objectives include improving cleanliness, landscaping common areas, and potentially sponsoring local community initiatives like a municipal football team.
