Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah faces arrest warrant
The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has secured a High Court warrant to arrest Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South. The arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into alleged unauthorized financial transactions at SIC Life Savings and Loans Company Limited. Authorities are investigating suspected offences including money laundering, financial loss, and the dissipation of public funds.
Following the issuance of the warrant, the MP reported himself to EOCO on October 1, 2026. After questioning, investigators executed court-authorized search warrants at the MP's office and residence to seize relevant documents. The court has directed that any attempt to execute the arrest warrant must be conducted through the Speaker of Parliament.
Mr. Baffour Awuah has disputed the agency's claims regarding his cooperation. He stated that the investigation pertains to legal work conducted by his former law firm, Sarkodie Baffour Awuah & Partners, which was engaged to recover approximately GH¢3.5 million invested by SIC Life with Equity Savings and Loans. He maintains that he has previously provided information through the Clerk to Parliament.
