Salomon Cappadocia Ultra-Trail begins in Ürgüp with 2,954 athletes

The Salomon Cappadocia Ultra-Trail has commenced in the Ürgüp district of Nevşehir, bringing together 2,954 athletes from 78 different countries. The event utilizes the unique natural landscapes and historical heritage of the Cappadocia region, including its valleys and fairy chimneys, as a backdrop for the competition.

During a press conference attended by Nevşehir Governor Hüseyin Kök and Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Safa Koçoğlu Gürsoy, officials emphasized the event's role in promoting sports tourism and the international brand value of the UNESCO World Heritage site. Governor Kök noted that the organization contributes significantly to the region's tourism, culture, and economy.

Deputy Minister Gürsoy highlighted that the ultra-trail race serves as a platform to showcase Turkey's cultural richness to a global audience. Additionally, the event includes a children's run under the slogan ‘Run for climate, protect your heritage,’ which aligns with the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference (COP31) scheduled for November.
