Salone del Mobile. Milano debuts in Lagos at Design Week 2026

The Salone del Mobile. Milano has officially debuted in Nigeria during Design Week Lagos 2026. Held at the National Theatre, the event brought together international design leaders and the local creative ecosystem to foster dialogue and explore collaborative opportunities within the Nigerian market.

The strategic expansion follows significant growth in Italian furniture exports to Africa. In 2025, exports to the continent reached 448.4 million euros, with Nigeria serving as the fourth-largest African market at 41.6 million euros. Recent data from the first half of 2026 indicates a 108.6% surge in Nigerian demand for Italian bathroom furniture.

Design Week Lagos 2026, themed ‘Making a New Africa: From Material to Market’, also featured Moroccan designer Hicham Lahlou as a special guest. Lahlou participated in panels and lectures focused on transforming African resources and expertise into industrial products. The event included over 100 designers and various industry forums.
