Salornay-sur-Guye driver tests positive for cocaine after fatal cyclist collision

A 33-year-old mother of three was killed on Thursday evening in Salornay-sur-Guye, Saône-et-Loire, after being struck by a vehicle while testing a new electric bicycle. The accident occurred in front of her family home in the presence of two of her children, aged 8 and 10.

Authorities reported that the driver was traveling at an “excessive speed” and subsequently tested positive for cocaine. Following the collision, the victim's husband confronted the driver, who was also in his thirties, and attacked him with a cutter. The driver sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to the Dijon University Hospital for emergency surgery.

The Mâcon prosecutor's office has opened two separate investigations: one for road homicide and another for violence committed with a weapon.
