Salou and Alghero host historical and cultural commemorations

Salou will host the 31st King Jaume I Festival from September 3 to 6, commemorating the 1229 departure of King Jaume I from the city's natural port for the conquest of Mallorca. The event features a medieval market in the old town and Plaza Bonet, alongside historical lectures, exhibitions, and theatrical recreations designed to educate the public on 13th-century history.

In Alghero, celebrations were held from August 28 to 31 to mark the anniversary of the 1960 'Reencontro' (Reunion). This event commemorates the arrival of over one hundred Catalan intellectuals and cultural representatives in Alghero, an event that helped end the city's cultural isolation. The festivities included musical performances, cultural meetings with artists from Northern Catalonia, and the presentation of the 'Fidelitat a l’Alguer' award to Carlo Sechi for his dedication to the defense of local language and traditions.
