Salou begins €1.9 million urban transformation project

Salou is beginning a €1.9 million urban transformation project around Barenys Street, affecting the surrounding Gaudí and Marie Curie streets. The works are scheduled to last six months and aim to improve mobility, pedestrian access, and urban quality.

The project includes expanding pedestrian spaces, maintaining two traffic lanes, adding parking, and constructing a bicycle lane that will connect Vial del Cavet with the future Eix Cívic. Additionally, a new green zone with playgrounds and seating areas will be created to serve as a climate refuge for families. Infrastructure upgrades will also include the renewal of water, telecommunications, electricity, and sanitation networks, alongside a new storm drain collector to manage heavy rainfall.

Traffic disruptions will occur progressively. Starting Monday, the section of Barenys Street between Gaudí Avenue and Pierre Vilar Street will be closed. Temporary closures are also planned for access to Carles Roig Street between September 21 and 25. From September 28, traffic on Barenys Street will be restricted to a single lane heading toward the beach.
