Turkey municipalities implement diverse infrastructure and energy projects
Various municipalities across Turkey are implementing diverse infrastructure, energy, and environmental projects.
In energy and water management, Battalgazi Municipality has begun new stages of its solar power plant (GES) project to increase capacity to 4.2 megawatts. In Trabzon, a new 800 kW solar system has been commissioned at the Akoluk Water Treatment Plant to reduce energy costs. Meanwhile, Istanbul's dam occupancy rate has dropped to 38.03%, the third lowest in ten years, due to decreased rainfall and high summer temperatures.
Infrastructure and transportation improvements are underway in several regions. Manisa is investing 45 million TL to renew drinking water lines in Akhisar to prevent outages caused by fault lines. In Denizli, the Hakkı Dereköylü Street has been renovated with new asphalt and roundabouts to improve safety. Bursa is conducting extensive water and road works in Mustafakemalpaşa, and Akçaabat in Trabzon is expanding its road networks. In Antalya, a 48.5 million TL project is underway to improve rural roads in Kaş.
Environmental and agricultural initiatives include the release of 725,000 carp fry into five water sources in Nevşehir to support natural fish populations. Additionally, Seydişehir Municipality has begun harvesting vegetables from its agricultural projects to supply local soup kitchens.
