Salt Lake Stadium undergoes renovations for Brazil and Uruguay matches

Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata is undergoing extensive renovations to prepare for upcoming international football fixtures. The venue is scheduled to host India against Brazil on October 3, followed by a match against Uruguay on October 6.

Work being managed by the state government’s sports and youth affairs department includes repainting stands, renovating and re-numbering seats, and upgrading spectator facilities. To improve the matchday experience, food stalls will be installed in gallery lobbies. Ground crews are also re-turfing the main pitch and training grounds following recent heavy rains.

Infrastructure improvements include landscaping the stadium exterior, widening and constructing new entry gates for better crowd movement, and renovating restrooms. Security measures are being enhanced with new fencing around practice grounds. A delegation from the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has inspected the facilities to oversee preparations for the expected 90-member Brazilian contingent.
