Salta and Antofagasta governors advance Paso de Sico integration

The Governor of Salta, Gustavo Sáenz, and the Regional Governor of Antofagasta, Ricardo Díaz Cortés, met to advance a shared integration agenda focused on the Capricorn Bioceanic Corridor. A central priority of the meeting was the Paso de Sico, which connects Salta with the Antofagasta Region.

Both leaders emphasized the need for full operationality of the Paso de Sico to strengthen border exchange and improve connectivity between Salta and Chilean Pacific Ocean ports. Discussions also covered coordination in infrastructure, logistics, trade facilitation, and productive development to boost economic opportunities in both territories.

Governor Díaz Cortés invited Sáenz to the 8th Forum of Subnational Territories of the Capricorn Bioceanic Corridor in Antofagasta, scheduled for November 23–26. Additionally, the Chilean regional government is working on road investments, including the paving of the Sico–Baquedano variant, to streamline transport and tourism.
