Salta authorities conduct cleaning operations to combat disease vectors
Authorities in Salta are conducting coordinated operations to clean public spaces and prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases such as Dengue, Zika, and Chikungunya.
In the Esteco canal area, the Salta Police and the local municipality carried out cleaning and waste removal tasks to recover public spaces. During this operation, ten individuals were detained for misdemeanor infractions.
In the El Aybal neighborhood, the Municipality of Salta, the Argentine Army, and the national Vector Control area conducted a specialized waste removal campaign. Officials reported that over 1,100 tons of waste have been removed since the start of the current administration, with 30% consisting of used tires. Authorities emphasized the importance of removing debris that can collect water, noting that mosquito eggs can survive cold temperatures even without rain.
