Puebla court upholds 15‑year sentence for attempted homicide
A court in the Mexican state of Puebla confirmed a prison term of 15 years and 10 months for Simón Arturo N., convicted of qualified attempted homicide. The crime occurred on 19 September 2022 in the municipality of Ayotoxco de Guerrero, when the defendant attacked the victim with a machete, causing serious injuries that the victim survived after timely medical care. The trial presented testimonial and forensic evidence linking the accused to the assault. The judgment also ordered payment of moral damages, a pending determination of material damages, and the suspension of the defendant’s political and civil rights for the duration of the sentence.
