Salta Deputy demands regularized Special Tobacco Fund payments
Argentine National Deputy Yolanda Vega has introduced a resolution project requesting the Executive Branch to urgently regularize transfers from the Special Tobacco Fund (FET) to producing provinces, with a specific focus on Salta.
The initiative, directed to the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, seeks to settle outstanding payments and establish mechanisms to prevent future delays. Vega argues that these delays directly impact tobacco producers who rely on these funds to cover essential production costs, including fertilizers, fuel, energy, and labor.
Highlighting that tobacco is a vital regional economy in Salta, Vega noted that the production chain supports various sectors, including cooperatives, transporters, and service providers. She emphasized that under Law 19.800, the FET is a legal obligation intended to complement producer income rather than a discretionary form of assistance.
