Salta judges hand down convictions for sexual abuse of minors

In the Argentine province of Salta, two separate courts sentenced men for abusing children. A judge in Orán sentenced a 22‑year‑old to three years of conditional imprisonment after an eight‑year‑old girl reported the abuse during comprehensive sex‑education classes. The court also imposed conduct‑reporting requirements.

In a separate case, a Salteño was sentenced to ten years in prison for nearly a decade of sexual abuse against his goddaughter and another minor from the same family. The abuse, which began when the victims were as young as six, involved repeated indecent touching and, in one instance, sexual assault. The conviction was handed down by Judge María Gabriela González, following a prosecution that had sought an eleven‑year term.
