Salta launches low‑price meat fair to help families

The Salta municipal government will hold the first edition of the Feria de la Carne on June 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Plaza España. The event offers beef, chicken and fish at discounts of up to 50 % compared with regular market prices, with listed rates such as $9.999 kg for common beef and $2.899 kg for whole chicken.

The fair responds to a sharp drop in meat consumption and a 70 % year‑on‑year price rise in the region. Municipal officials said many residents “tell us it is getting harder to buy meat and maintain essential food consumption,” prompting the initiative to make quality products more affordable for Salta families.

The market will feature participating suppliers who will provide special pricing for the day, and the municipality plans to repeat the fair monthly in different neighborhoods to sustain the aid to low‑income households.
