Salta police and local authorities launch crackdown on illegal parking attendants

Police in Salta and municipal authorities in Tartagal have launched security operations to combat the illegal activity of ‘trapitos’ (unauthorized parking attendants) and windshield washers in urban centers.

In Salta, police conducted operations in the city center and macrocenter following numerous citizen complaints regarding threats, safety risks, and general insecurity. The intervention aimed to reinforce police presence and address the concerns of residents who reported increased tension in these areas.

In Tartagal, Mayor Franco Hernández Berni announced joint inspections with the Salta Police to prevent unauthorized individuals from occupying public spaces and demanding illegal payments from drivers. The municipal government stated these measures are a response to reports of violence, vehicle damage, and extortion targeting motorists using public parking areas.
